Lemonade War Stands
Claire and Connor interviewed our 5th graders setting up next week's Lemonade War stand. Their stand will be open for business on Tuesday, September 30th from 11:30 - 1:30 in All Saints Hall. Each group has a theme and slogan, and this group's theme is music with the catchy slogan, "Get to the Beat, Have a Sweet Krispy Treat." All the money raised from their sales will go to Kenya Connect, so don't forget to bring your 50 cents on September 30th to support this worthy cause.
After School Clubs
Kelsey and Hillary interviewed Ms. Bruce to find out more information about the after school activities offered at St. John's. Ms. Bruce stated that some of the favorite clubs at St. John's for the lower school are soccer, Legos, Spanish, art, Tae Kwon Do, and Club Scientific. She hopes that people will like this club. Tae Kwon Do also has a lot of student involvement. She thinks that all the clubs offered are awesome this year. She is really excited to be able to incorporate all the EC kids in clubs. We hope you are able to enjoy many different clubs this year!

Flu Season Tidbits
Written by: Laura Kim and Shianne Chapman
We asked Nurse Morgan some questions because it is getting
close to flu season.
One of the questions we asked her was, “What can you do to
keep from getting sick.”
Her answer was, “ You get rest, stay home, wash your hands,
and get the flu shot.”
Next we asked, “What are the symptoms of flu season?” Her
answer was, “Fever, body aches, cough, and a runny nose.” Another question we
asked her was, “Do a lot of people come in during flu season and has anyone
gotten sick yet?” She said, “No one has gotten sick yet luckily, and not a lot
of people come in during flu season.” Our last question was, “Approximately,
how many people come in with headaches and stomachaches every month?” She said,
“At least 20- 30 a month.” We hope our paragraph was useful to you.

Our first newscast!
Meet Our Pizza Moms
By Jacob Lee and Hayden Bovard
Mrs. Auman is one of our pizza moms. She volunteers because she wants to make the school a better place and raise money for programs, especially technology and providing our teachers with items that help in the classroom. She also likes to see her own children every day, even at school. We get our pizza from Vocelli's Pizza in Ellicott City. Pizza Fridays are scheduled to begin on Friday, September 19th. When asked how we could become more environmental friendly, she said last year we started not printing labels for EC classes who ate in their classrooms. We could completely get rid of pizza labels and rely on the honor system as well. Mrs. Auman says, "Pizza Friday is my favorite volunteer activity because I get to see and have lunch with all the students." Mrs. Auman has two children at St. John's. Ryan is in 5th grade and has been at St. John's since kindergarten and Allyson is in 2nd grade and has been at St. John's since preschool.
